Join Scouting Night
Updated May 15, 2023
Pack 1148 will be hosting our next Join Scouting Night on Wednesday, September 6th from 7-8pm in the Little River Elementary School cafeteria. We will deliver a quick presentation on what Scouting is all about and how Pack 1148 strives to build youth of character – both boys and girls.
If you are interested in learning more about Cub Scouts and Pack 1148's program, come join us. No registration required. Bring your prospective Cub Scout with you; we will have a planned activity for them while the adults talk.
Wind Powered Racing!
Wind powered racing! The boys and girls of Pack 1148 built their own sailboats out of kits and raced them in the first annual Raingutter Regatta. The event was hosted by the Loudoun County Sherrif's Office and took place on the front lawn of the Dulles South Safety Center. Everyone had a great time and the scouts learned a little bit about aerodynamics and sportsmanship.
Water Rockets!
Outdoor activities are a huge part of Pack 1148's program. One event we held this summer was the Water Rocket Launch. Approximately 20 scouting families participated on a wonderful August evening, filling custom decorated and other water bottles, with water and even soda, to launch them up to the sky. We even had a competition - which rocket could reach the greatest height. We tested small, medium, and large bottles, with various capacities and liquids, launching them many many times, approximately 200 or more launches using 2 separate compressed air launch platforms, so 2 rockets could fly at the same time. And, we just had fun too.
