About 1148

Cub Scout Pack 1148 is represents the South Riding/Chantilly area in the Goose Creek District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  The Pack was started shortly after the opening of Little River Elementary School in September of 1999.

We are a year round pack that has activities throughout the school year and summer.  Most of our scouts are involved in a variety of school, sport, and community activities in addition to scouting.

We have a great community of involved scouts and parents which makes it a great time for the kids and parents alike.

How Often We Meet

• The Pack meets once a Month on the 2nd Thursday of the month.  

• Dens meet about twice a month

• Special events and activities

The Pack and the Dens are flexible and supportive of all the other activities going on to make sure Scouting is fun and fits into our lives.

• $260 or $275 with Scout Life magazine

Annual Events

Our Pack has several events and functions we do annually the scouts look forward to including:

• Join Scouting Night  in September - Where new friends are invited to see what our Pack is all about

• Webelos-O-Ree @ Camp Snyder - Fun camping for the older scouts.

• Popcorn Sales in October and November  - This is our major fundraiser that lets us do all that we do

• Fall Family Camp Out  in October - Mom, Dad, and siblings of all experience levels are welcome

• Scouting For Food in November - National event to collect food for the needy in our local community.  Our pack collects nearly a ton of food each year

• Pinewood Derby in February - Scouts make and race their cars and participate in other great competitions

• Blue & Gold Banquet in March - A celebration for the scouts and families for a great year of scouting

• Pack Advancement Ceremony in March - Scouts move up to the next rank

• Spring Family Camp Out in May - Spring weather and outdoors with the whole family.

• Spring Clean-up Day in May - help keep our environment clean.

• Pack 1148 Annual Relays in June

• Star Spangled South Riding on July 4th

• Pack 1148 Annual Movie Night in July

• Pack 1148 Annual Picnic in August

• New Scout Year begins in June - Begin the next rank or transition into Boy Scouts
